Exhibit 8Design: This image will be used as a seed packet cover. Moonflowers bloom by sending up a spike which unfurls within a matter of minutes, and do so only in the evening (or when there is a heavy overcast). This image is designed to show a bloom unraveling, and both the type style and moonlight color lookup are meant to evoke a sense of elegance and nighttime. The bloom stages are placed at approximate third intersections for focal points. The moonlight overlay ties the image together through harmony, and the serif and sans serif fonts contrast nicely, with the scientific name faded slightly into the background. A center alignment is used to compliment the three blooms below.
Process: This image is 4x6 inches with a 300 dpi for printing down in wallet sizes. Three different images of moonflower blooms were edited to reduce the exposure, lighten the highlights and shadows, and increase vibrancy. Masks were used to overlay the images and expose each bloom, and selectively reveal complimentary backgrounds. In the bottom right, the content-aware fill and clone stamp tools were used to fill in areas not covered by photos. The eyedropper tool was used to fill in the background with a purple from the underlaying mulch. A layer style was created with an inside stroke of light blue, reduced opacity inner shadow with blend mode multiply, a smooth inner bevel with vivid light highlight, saturated gradient overlay, and light drop shadow. A moonlight color lookup was overlaid on top, and a large brush with heavy feathering was used to mask the moonlight coloring from the top text and reveal the whitened insides of the blooms.
