Exhibit 3Design: This flyer is meant to catch the attention of those whose hands start to itch for soil during the cold months of winter. Based on the rule of thirds, a photo is placed in the top third, and it's dark color contrasts with the white of the rest of the page. The bright green contrasts with the soil, and that color is repeated in the top bar and throughout the headlines to create harmony through repetition. The flyer is anchored with a strong left alignment, and an eyecatching "take home 72 planted seeds" is at home in its own space, a lighter green than the rest of the text. The logos fit in as a nice conclusion along the bottom of the flyer. Serif and sans serif fonts are used to contrast with each other, and are repeated throughout the document. Information is grouped to enable ease of reading through proximity.
Process: This is an 8.5 x 11 inch flyer with 300 dpi for high printing resolution. The photo was not large enough to span the width of the page, so I used the content-aware fill tool to fill in the gaps along the left edge, and the clone tool to make a few extra adjustments so it didn't look identical to the image on its right. I used a mask and soft-edged brush to blend the photo into the page instead of allowing a hard edge. I added a stroke to the sans serif fonts to add contrast and give some "umph". I used the shape tool to create the ellipse. Photo credit: Public Domain Image Fonts used: Quicksand Bold and Perpetua Regular |
